Fried Zucchini Flowers & Strips

Dipped in a light beer batter, these fried zucchini flowers and strips of zucchini are a delight! They are also a perfect and unique addition to a charcuterie or cheese board!

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beer you can use milk or water
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/4 cup parmesan grated (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 zucchini flowers washed and well dried
  • 1 zucchini thinly sliced into strips
  • Frying oil peanut, canola or vegetable


  1. In a deep sauce pan or pot, heat oil over medium-high heat.
  2. In a large bowl mix together: flour, beer, egg, parmesan and a bit of salt and pepper.
  3. When the oil is hot (you can test with a couple drops of batter), dip a flour or strip into the batter and let drip to remove excess.
  4. Place in oil and fry until golden brown and the zucchini strips are cooked, about 3 - 5 minutes. Be sure to not overcrowd the oil as it will lower the heat.
  5. Once cooked, remove from the oil and place on paper towel to drain the oil. Serve hot.
