Yes you read that right! Delicious unfussy homemade pulled pork can be made using just two ingredients and your good old trusty slow or multi-cooker!
I feel like I blinked and time just flew by – I can’t believe it’s already September! In an alternate universe (you know, one without pandemics…) I would be probably running last minute errands before my wedding but in this universe I’m hanging onto what’s still left of summer while secretly getting ready for fall (I just bought the most warm and comfortable slippers at Costco – they’re literally are the best!).

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT 2-INGREDIENT PULLED PORK
How can you not love a recipe that is just TWO INGREDIENTS?! Moreover, one that cooks in your slow cooker or multicooker all day and really doesn’t need much prep work!
That’s right! Beyond the five to six hours it takes to cook, it takes all of five minutes to prepare everything before cooking and maybe at most ten minutes to shred the meat and reduce the sauce. So while your your appliance is doing all the heavy lifting, you can be soaking up the last days of summer (or clean the house for company, because this recipe with some homemade buns, and a good potato salad is sure to please).

RECIPE NOTES
Honestly there is not much that can be said for a recipe that is as easy as this pulled pork recipe – but here it goes.
Do cut excess fat. When I buy pork shoulder it usually comes with a thick rind on one side. While this extra fat will give off a lot of flavour, I find that it will make the resulting sauce too greasy.
Choosing between your slow cooker or multicooker, the multicooker is the way to go. While both will work, once you remove the pork for shredding the resulting bbq sauce has become too liquid from the cooking process so I like to reduce it. If you are working in an Instant Pot or a Breville Fast Slow Pro, this can be done in the same vessel. Using a slow cooker, you would need to transfer the liquid to a pot and reduce it on the stove.
Hope you enjoy!
PS. I have not tried scaling up the recipe, but I’m sure that the ratio pork to bbq can be scaled up! So if you found a 6 lb. pork shoulder, use 2 cups of bbq sauce!

EASIEST 2-INGREDIENT PULLED PORK
Yes you read that right! Delicious unfussy homemade pulled pork can be made using just two ingredients and your good old trusty slow or multi-cooker!
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (your choice, I used Diana's Chicken & Rib)
- 3 lb pork shoulder
INSTRUCTIONS
-
Take the piece of pork shoulder, pat dry and remove rind and excess fat.
-
Place the pork into a slow cooker or multicooker and add 1 cup of bbq sauce.
-
Cook on high for 5 to 6 hours.
-
About 10 minutes before serving, remove pork and set aside.
-
If using a multicooker, reduce the sauce on high stirring occasionally until reduced by half, about 6 to 8 minutes. Alternatively, if using a slow cooker, pour the sauce into a saucepan and reduce over medium-high heat stirring occasionally until reduced by half, about 8 to 10 minutes.
-
Once reduced, return the pulled pork to your cooker (add the sauce if reduced over the stove) and toss to evenly coat the meat. Serve as a sandwich with hamburger buns!
